Which phone can run offline AI? Memory, storage and the right model
How much RAM and storage you need to run AI offline on an Android phone, how to check yours, and which Aboki model fits a 3, 4 or 6 GB phone.

An AI model that runs on the phone needs two things from it: enough memory (RAM) to hold the model while it thinks, and enough storage to keep the file. You do not need an expensive phone. You need the model that matches the phone you have.
Memory is what matters most
While Aboki answers, the whole model sits in the phone's memory alongside Android itself. If there is not enough room, the phone slows down or closes the app. That is why each Aboki model has a memory figure:
| Model | Good for | File size | Phone memory |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aboki Lite | Quick answers for everyday questions | 704 MB | 3 GB or more |
| Aboki Study | School subjects, explained step by step | 1.0 GB | 4 GB or more |
| Aboki Pro | Longer, more careful answers | 2.3 GB | 6 GB or more |
| Aboki Health | General health information for adults, not a diagnosis | 2.3 GB | 6 GB or more |
You do not have to work this out yourself. When you open Models, Aboki reads how much memory and free space your phone has, and marks the model that fits as Best fit. If you choose one that is too big, it warns you that it may be slow or close.
How to check your phone's memory
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone (on some phones, My phone or Phone information).
- Look for RAM or Memory. It is a number like 3 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB.
Storage: leave room to breathe
The model file has to fit in free storage, with some left over for photos and apps. Aboki shows how much space you will have left before it copies or downloads anything, and stops if there is not enough. On a 32 GB phone that is already full, clearing old videos and WhatsApp media is usually the quickest way to make room for Aboki Lite.
Which Android version?
Aboki needs Android 7 or newer. Nearly every phone sold in the last several years is fine. You can see your version under Settings, About phone, Android version.
Will it be fast?
Honestly, it depends on the phone. Online chatbots answer from huge computers; Aboki answers from the phone in your hand, so on a cheaper phone the words appear a few at a time. A few habits help:
- Close games and video apps before a long question.
- Keep questions short and clear.
- Pick the smaller model if a bigger one feels sluggish. Lite is quick for everyday questions.

Quick answers
- Can a 3 GB RAM phone run AI offline?
- Yes. Aboki Lite, a 704 MB model, is made for phones with 3 GB of memory or more running Android 7 or newer.
- Does extended or virtual RAM help run AI?
- Not much. Extended RAM borrows space from storage, which is far slower than real memory. Go by the real memory figure when choosing a model.
